Sustainable Development and Innovation Research Group (SDIRG)

The Sustainable Development and Innovation Research Group (SDIRG) at Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) is dedicated to advancing knowledge and practices that promote sustainable development across various sectors. The group focuses on exploring innovative strategies, leadership approaches, sustainable management and policy, sustainability and organizational excellence, and organizational practices that drive sustainability, environmental responsibility, and long-term societal impact.

Our mission is to conduct interdisciplinary research that contributes to sustainable business practices, eco-leadership, and responsible innovation, while aligning with global sustainability goals. SDIRG aims to collaborate with academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to address sustainability challenges and inspire transformative changes for a more resilient and equitable future.

Prof. Dr. Rami Oweis

Affiliation: Full professor and Vice-Chancellor at Modern College of Business and Science
Bio: Prof. Rami Oweis, Ph.D. is an accomplished educator, researcher, and leader in the field of Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnology. With over two decades of experience, he has been instrumental in the establishment and development of cutting-edge academic programs and research institutes, most notably at Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST). Prof. Oweis played a key role in founding the Biomedical Engineering Department and the Institute of Nanotechnology at JUST.
In addition to his academic contributions, Prof. Oweis has held several senior leadership positions, including Vice-Chairman for institutional excellence and advancement at MCBS, Assistant to the President at JUST, Dean of Institutional Research and Planning at Canadian University Dubai, and CEO for the Higher Education Division at Atticus Education, Dubai. His leadership has been pivotal in achieving ABET accreditation for the BME department at JUST and advancing institutions like JUST and the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) in QS World Universities rankings.
Prof. Oweis is also a prolific researcher, with numerous publications and research grants focusing on nanotechnology and biomedical applications.
