New Horizons of Linking Academia with Industry

Jonathan Ray is the Director of Communication at Creative and Cultural Skills under the UK National Skills Council for the cultural industries. His role involves devising new career routes to exciting and sustainable professional lives, ensuring fair access and recruitment within the creative industries, and encouraging openness to talent, drawing from a diversity of backgrounds and education. Prior to his current role, Jonathan was the Vice President for Communication and Public Relations at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan. He served also as the Head of Communication and Deputy Director of Public Affairs at Oxford University in the UK. Jonathan played this role also in a number of other universities in the UK as well as in the Middle East and Asia such as Northumbria University, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and the University of Nottingham in the UK, China, and Malaysia. Jonathan combines a unique mixture of experiences in academia, industry, and media.
