Last Mile Delivery Operations in E-Commerce

On 05th November 2023, a highly informative and insightful session was conducted for the students of BSc-Transport and Logistics Management (BTLM) at MCBS. The session delved into last-mile logistics with a special reference to the E-Commerce sector. The session was delivered by Mr. Sulaiman from Talabat, Oman, a leading E-commerce company in Oman. The event was organized and coordinated by Dr. Saurav Negi, with the goal of providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the role of last-mile delivery in E-commerce logistics and the issues faced in the complex and competitive business environment. The session was structured to cover a range of relevant topics that are currently important in driving the last-mile logistics operations.

The session commenced with an overview of the current state of the E-commerce market. Following this, Mr. Sulaiman offered his valuable insights, elaborating on the crucial role of logistics operations within E-commerce, emphasizing the significance of last-mile delivery in elevating customer service, and emphasizing the importance of collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness and success of last-mile operations. In the concluding portion of the session, in-depth discussions were held regarding the challenges prevailing in the field, as well as the future opportunities awaiting logistics graduates. This event proved to be a highly successful initiative, significantly enhancing students’ comprehension of logistics operations, particularly within the last mile, in one of the fastest-growing sectors today.
