Dr. Suzanne Kearns

Professor of Aviation, University of Waterloo.

Dr. Suzanne Kearns is a Canadian author, academic, and professor of aviation who works at the University of Waterloo.  She is a former commercially-licensed airplane and helicopter pilot, holds advanced aviation degrees, and a PhD in education.  Her research specializations are aviation safety, training methodologies, and human factors.  She is the author of six aviation books and Series Editor of the ‘Aviation Fundamentals’ textbook series. 

Her most recent textbook ‘Fundamentals of International Aviation’, published March 2018, is used within colleges and universities around the world to introduce aviation professional issues to the next generation (including in multiple translations) and she recently submitted a 2nd edition.  She is the co-developer of the ICAO/University of Waterloo e-learning course ‘Aviation Fundamentals’ (AviFun) which is an online certificate course designed to provide accessible and affordable introductory aviation education.
