The traditional approach in which career fairs have been held was deliberately avoided, and we decided to host a workshop-like event where we hosted entrepreneurs to teach our students and graduates how to take the initiative and learn some practical tools to start generating an income while they are still students or while they are waiting for employment after graduation.
With a saturated job market, both students and graduates benefited from this career fair, as it gave them a new perspective on how to approach the workforce when they graduate. This approach motivated the graduates to pursue the idea of being entrepreneurs to gain access to the job market. The hosted entrepreneurs shared in-depth knowledge and a roadmap for becoming successful entrepreneurs, and in return, they have become an important driver of employment in Oman. Furthermore, students were able to understand key skills needed to run a successful and sustainable business. The workshop ended with students feeling satisfied with their newly acquired knowledge and tools that enable them to navigate the success and challenges of becoming entrepreneurs.
