Prof. Rami J. Oweis, Ph.D. is an experienced and passionate educator and researcher with extensive expertise in establishing high-quality academic programs. A pivotal contributor to the development of the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department and the Institute of Nanotechnology at Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST), Prof. Oweis has demonstrated exemplary academic leadership throughout his career.

His leadership roles include serving as Assistant to the President for International Accreditations, and World University Rankings; Director of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Centre; Director of the Assessment and Strategic Planning Office; Head of the BME Department at JUST; Dean of Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) at Canadian University in Dubai (CUD); CEO for the Higher Education Division at Atticus Education in Dubai, UAE; and Advisor to the President of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK).

Prof. Oweis has a proven track record in academic and higher education quality assurance. This includes leading the BME Department at JUST to achieve accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc.; overseeing initiatives that advanced JUST, CUD, and Ras Al Khaimah Medical & Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU) to five-star QS ratings; and guiding AURAK to a prestigious five-star-plus QS rating. He also played a key role in propelling JUST into the top 500 universities in the 2018 THE University Rankings.

With solid academic leadership skills, Prof. Oweis has mentored high-performing MSc and senior students, coordinated research teams, and developed research projects that have secured numerous grants. He is an active reviewer for national and international entities, programs, and journals, and he serves as a member of the QS Global Advisory Committee.

Prof. Oweis has contributed to numerous councils and committees, including the JUST University Council, CUD Senior Managerial Board, JUST ABET Accreditation, JUST Strategic Planning and Quality Assurance, and the AURAK steering committee for the QS Middle East Higher Education Summit 2024.

Currently, Prof. Rami J. Oweis serves as the Vice Chairman for Institutional Excellence and Advancement at the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) in Oman, where he continues to drive institutional progress and academic excellence.
