Mathematics and Computer Science Department: Overview

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Computer Science, Information system and Statistics which provides students with high-quality education and prepares them for long and successful careers in industry and government.

Graduates are prepared to fulfil the immediate needs of the computer industry, to adapt themselves to the rapidly evolving industry needs, and further their education at the graduate school.

Computer Science and Information System are disciplines that spans theory and practice. It requires thinking both in abstract terms and in concrete terms. For students to be admitted to the academic programs of the Modern College of Business and Science, they must have a Recognized General Education Diploma or its equivalent.

The Department offers the following programs:

  • Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science
  • Associate of Science Degree in Information Communication Technology
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Security
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics

 

For students to be admitted to the academic programs of the Modern College of Business and Science, they must have a Recognized General Education Diploma or its equivalent.

Students joining MCBS have to go through an English placement test. The first part of the placement test consists of listening, vocabulary, grammar and reading comprehension. The second part of the test is essay writing.
Students presenting a valid score of 5 in IELTS  or 61 in internet Based TOEFL (iBT)  are exempted from the first part of the placement test, but still sit for the second part of the test.

Students who have a score  of 5-5.5 in IELTS , 65-79  in iBT)  or  60-79 in part one of the placement test will join a Level 4 or a COMP I class, depending on the second part of the test (essay writing).
