Bio:

Presently the Head of the Department of General education, Dr. Aarati holds a Ph.D. and an M. Phil. degree in English Language Teaching from M.S. University of Baroda, India. Both dissertations are psycholinguistic, exploring the cognitive processes of writing L2 compositions. Her total teaching experience spans more than 28 years, teaching English globally at the Doctoral, Masters and the Undergraduate levels.

Teaching at MCBS since 2014, she teaches Academic Writing, Business Writing, Technical Writing and World Literature. She is a recognised Supervisor to supervise doctoral dissertations and has guided two students towards their Ph. D degrees.

Bio:

Ms. Samia S. Montasser has a vast experience in teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL). Her teaching experience spans 30 years in various universities and institutes in USA, like, The American University, School of Advanced International Studies “SAIS”, Johns Hopkins University, and the George Washington University in the Washington DC . She has also taught several intensive summers in Middlebury College in Vermont.

Bio:

Catherine has been at MCBS since 2012, teaching Academic Writing, Intercultural Communication, and Business Ethics. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Leeds, UK and began her career as an English teacher as a result of spending one year as an assistant teacher in Spain as part of her studies.

Bio:

After receiving Masters of Letters in Modernities from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 2010, Arwa joined MCBS as part of the General Education Department in 2011. She has taught numerous courses ranging from Composition and World Literature to Public Speaking and Topics in Media.

She is deeply passionate about literature and has introduced and developed three courses which are taught as part of the department’s course profile – Introduction to Literature, Introduction to Literary Studies, and Critical Reading.

Bio:

Maryam received her Sociology post-graduate MSc from University of Southampton (England, UK) and her Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Temple University (Philadelphia, USA). Recently she added the CELTA certification to her CV while still writing her MPhil dissertation. Indulging in her fascination of human behaviour, Maryam devotes her energies to research and developing projects that facilitate communication and social awareness.

Mitra has a Master’s degree in Adult Education and a TESOL Diploma from the University of British Columbia, Canada. She has more than 25 years teaching experience in various part of the world and joined MCBS in 2017.

Nasser has a Master’s degree in Secondary Education with emphasis in TESOL from University of Missouri-Saint Louis, United States. He teaches in the General Education Department and has been teaching a variety of courses including Writing Composition I and II, Business Writing and Public Speaking.

Bio:

Hazar holds a Master’s degree in Literature and Cross-cultural Poetics and a B.Ed. degree from Bourguiba University in Tunisia.  Both degrees revolve around teaching and learning methods, in addition to exploring contemporary narratology theories, civilization, media studies, translation and stylistics. She has taught Academics, Arts Appreciation, Foundation, Research and Practical English Grammar both in Tunisia and in Oman. Her designed courses in History of Arts, Exposition and argumentation and technical writing are being used until now.

Marcus Richey was born in Wichita, Kansas, USA; studied English and theatre at the University of Kansas. He moved to Sweden and received his MA in English literature from Gothenburg University. For 20 years he taught at various Swedish universities, specializing in literature, cultural studies, and composition writing. He has been in Oman since 2016.

Bio:

Jennifer Paquibut is a registered nurse with a 15 years’ experience. She began serving in 2001 at Perpetual Succor Hospital – medical surgical ward and emergency room. Eventually she became a clinical instructor for 11 years, which paved way for her teaching profession.
